The Churchill Fellowship will provide David the necessary funding to conduct overseas field research on design and display concepts for the implementation of Stage 3 building and development project. Stage 3 will require substantial investment and infrastructure and before any work can commence it's is important that we visit relevant palaeontological and natural history museums overseas to forge cooperative links and gather information and ideas to ensure our future gallery design and museum architecture is based on state of the art technologies and concepts, little of which is currently available in Australia.
As part of the research to be undertaken by David, our Project Architect Michael Rayner will travel with David (on separate funding allocations) for part of this trip to meet with and inspect the most relevant sites in North America.
![]() | 2011 CHURCHILL FELLOWSHIPS IN AUSTRALIA 107 Australians have been awarded the 2011 Churchill Fellowships on projects ranging from investigating coastal erosion solutions and emerging technologies in wildlife crime through to alternative school programs for indigenous students, disaster assistance, orchestral training programs and the conservation of traditional ironwork. This years Churchill Fellows, like their predecessors, are dedicated and inspiring Australians who will make a difference to our country over the decades. The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, which was established after the death of Sir Winston Churchill in accordance with his final wishes, has now funded more than 3,500 Fellowships for Australians. With an average value of more than $20,000 per Fellowship, recipients have the opportunity to travel overseas to further their passion and return to Australia to implement their findings and share them with others. The 2011 Fellowships are valued at more than $2.2 million and cover the broadest range of topics as applicants design their own Fellowships in their field of expertise. excerpt taken from Churchill Foundation Press Release |
