 In December 2010, the Riversleigh Society decided to award the 2010 Riversleigh Medal for services to Australasian palaeontology to yourselves. Your nomination was put forward to the Society by a palaeontologist and your nomination and others, plus supporting material was then circulated to a range of Australian sctentists for consideration. The result was successful.

 In awarding the Medal to you both, the Riversleigh Society wants to acknowledge the hard work and sacrifice that you both have made to the promotion of Australian palaeontology. Too often, it is left to the scientists to do this work but there is only so much that they can achieve. The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Project has been a model for community groups around this country who want to promote local issues. The Society watches closely the developments of all paleontological projects in Australia and its neighbouring countries, and I would like to say, on behalf of the Society, that the work that you started, and the development of the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Project, has given me great delight and satisfaction. You have succeeded in raised public attention for the Winton District in a way that has astounded many people. But in addition, you have allowed science to be carried out as it should and science has also benefited. I congratulate you both on your achievements and regret that I was not able to personally present you with the Medal. The Society tried to get the Medal to you by one of our scientists but this did not eventuate. I enclose the Medal with this letter and hope that the future is productive and satisfying for you both.
